by | Mar 31, 2023

If you are new to trade shows and have a million questions, we are here to answer ALL of them. So let’s talk basics and wrap our heads around everything that’s going on. Trade shows can encompass many things and cater to many different crowds. The different types of trade shows are consumer trade shows, industry trade shows, and trade shows that appeal to both industries and consumers.

The type of crowd you are wanting to target is crucial to determine which type of trade show you are wanting to attend.

Catering to Your Client:

If you are looking to target a customer base that is going to buy your products for individual use, then you should be exhibiting at a consumer trade show. Consumer trade shows are open to the public and are all over the country. These types of trade shows are beneficial for many reasons:

  1. You’re able to meet your customer face to face.
  2. You’re able to build lasting relationships which create repeat customers.
  3. You can conduct market research.

Catering to your Industry:

If you are looking to exhibit to get the attention of people in your industry, you should be exhibiting at an industry trade show. This type of show is not open to the general public which means your target audience would be significantly different. Industry trade shows are beneficial because you can:

  1. Raise brand awareness
  2. Understand your competitors better
  3. Gain funding or make contacts that can grow your business.

Regardless of which show you are attending or exhibiting at, you will have the opportunity to network and get brand exposure that you can’t get any other way. To quote Stephan Murtagh, “They are the only marketing channel that offers everything in one place.”
