3 Ways to Stay Comfortable & Healthy on the Show Floor

by | Jul 21, 2014

Preparation for a couple of days on the exhibit floor goes far beyond picking the perfect trade show display or planning your exhibit schedule. It is also important for you, and your staff to be comfortable and attentive. Wearing comfortable clothing, and giving your body the proper nutrients can improve work attitude and performance. Most trade shows do require business clothing, and this isn’t the most comfortable option. There are a few things you can do to curb the physical and mental wear of an all-day event.

1. Adequate footwear is a must-have. There’s nothing worse than spending an entire day on your feet. Given our profession, there is no
way around it. I suggest sporting a comfy pair of sneakers with thick rubber soles. Nike Air Max is a great option. They’re incredibly comfortable and rather stylish; they have hundreds of colorways to match any outfit. On the other hand, if you’re into the old-school look, give New Balance 574’s a try. I can personally vouch for their durability and comfort.

2. Stay hydrated throughout the day by bringing along a personal water bottle. Hydration is key. Water helps the body flush toxins, and operate at its optimal level. If you’re dehydrated on the trade show floor you will be grumpy, uncomfortable, and completely miserable. So, avoid dehydration and pack yourself a refillable water bottle. In my opinion, Nalgene water bottles are the best! They hold one-thousand milliliters, is BPA-free, and dishwasher safe; the perfect little buddy for any trade show attendee.

3. Pack a healthy snack for the trade show. Eating fatty foods that are high in cholesterol and sodium can make you feel sluggish and
tired. To stay comfortable, and keep your belly happy you can pack one of the following: apple, banana, yogurt, PowerBar, fruit, or sandwich. All of which will provide your body with suitable energy to venture around the exhibit floor and keep your brain alert.

It’s important to be comfortable at trade shows. You attend shows to make a good impression, and that can be a challenge if your body and mind are stressed. So, remember a few tips: wear comfy shoes, bring a water bottle, and pack a healthy snack for your next event. You won’t
regret it.
