At Diers Exhibits, we’ve managed countless installs and dismantles across the country. This year at the NACS Show in Chicago, I reached a personal milestone: supervising a booth install and dismantle on my own. While not a first for our company, it was for me, and it gave me a deeper appreciation for the planning, creativity, and teamwork that make every project successful.
Plan, Then Adapt
I came to NACS prepared with floor plans, freight schedules, electrical layouts, and rigging orders all in place. Preparation is at the core of what we do at Diers Exhibits. But trade shows move fast, and things can shift in an instant. That is where adaptability comes in. Even though I was solo in Chicago, our Denver team was right there with me, ordering last-minute items to show site, answering questions, and providing backup when needed. That support allowed me to focus fully on managing the booth with confidence.
Design That Pops
Logistics get the booth built, but design is what makes it stand out. At a show like NACS, you are surrounded by hundreds of exhibitors, all competing for attention. Eye-catching graphics, smart layouts, and statement pieces are what pull attendees in and spark conversations. It is not just about looking good, it is about ROI. A bold, creative design helps your booth work harder for you, driving engagement and maximizing the value of your investment.
Build Your Show Floor Family
One of my biggest takeaways was how valuable relationships are on the show floor. I made a point to connect with the electrical foreman, riggers, decorators, and even our booth neighbors. They quickly became my “mini family” for the week. Helping them and working collaboratively went a long way. When I needed support, they had my back. These connections make installs and dismantles smoother and more enjoyable, and they are a big part of why Diers projects run so well.
Check It Twice (and Then Again)
One habit I will carry forward from this experience is to double and triple-check electrical and rigging orders with the General Contractor right away. Confirming services at the start ensures everything is set up correctly and keeps the project on track from day one.
What It Means for Clients
For our clients, NACS was another example of what sets Diers Exhibits apart: expertise in every detail of booth execution, creative design that makes brands stand out, adaptability in a fast-paced environment, and team support, whether one person or the entire crew is on-site.
Looking Ahead
Supervising my first solo install and dismantle was a milestone I will always remember. It reinforced the values we bring to every project: preparation, creativity, strong relationships, and teamwork. For me, it was a first. For Diers Exhibits, it was another demonstration of what we do best, bringing our clients’ brands to life on the show floor with precision, creativity, and collaboration.
